oxy sensor

i recently put new exaust on my truck, along with an open element k&n. the k&n was first by about a month. the truck is a 93 f150 2wd with the 5.0( willl be 4wd next week). any how i drove it around for a few days with no problems and no lights etc... i got on it one night and let off the gas and it back fired and then the check engine light came on soon after. now as soon as the truck warms up the check engine light comes on. but never when its cold. can a back firs blow out the O2 sensor? what type are these cause ive noticed that the one on this truck is 49$ vs the 18$ on on my 88 is it wide band?
thanks aheada time

I doubt you damaged the O2 sensor, but anything is possible. Check the codes in the computer to see what it has picked up, and then clear the codes by disconnecting the battery for 15min. If the code comes back and you can't figure ot what the problem is, post back. www.fordfuelinjection.com
