4 Door Mustang

The next generation of the Ford Mustang could include some previously unthinkable variants including a four-door sedan and a station wagon, according to a report in the magazine AutoWeek.

Yeah, that sucks.

Mustang platform and engines on car with another name would be cool.

Great! A four-door really worked out well for the Thunderbird. My 62 Fairlane four-door is worth about 25% of a comparable two-door. Old four-door cars make good donor cars for the surviving two-doors.

If Ford makes a 4 door or wagon mustang then they will have completely lost it. I'm with Red Star, atleast rename the thing.

Only 4 door T-Bird was 1967-1971 (somebody correct me if I'm wrong), but those Thunderbirds were nothing special.

Agreed. They really should think about it before they screw this one up.

They were special. They were the last car I'm aware of that had suicide doors on the rear (at least the last ones that opened independently of the front door).

True. There were 2 and 4 door versions of the 67 to 69 Tbird. I think the 70 was based on the Lincoln platform and did not offer the suicied rear doors as an option. If you want to see one, I find Ebay a good source for pics of any old iron you want.

Personally, I really like the styling of the 67 to 69 birds. The flared fenders and jet intake grill were cool.

BTW, I found a picture of the guy who came up with the 4 door/station-stang idea
