ford 330

has anyone ever heard of a ford 330 v-8, looks like 390, 190 hp 370 ft.lbs torque. just curious ,it was just givin to me free,64 1ton pump truck.

The 330FE is a good engine but it was underpowered for the trucks it was originally put in (F-500/600).

The 330 is a slow speed high torque engine designed for heavy pulling in medium duty trucks.

Yep, we had a F600 with it, for the size (5.4L) it isn't bad. IIRC it will have the motor mounts in the front and back not the sides just like other industrial FE's.

Don't forget all the F-350 U-Haul trucks were also powered with the 330 in the late 60's and 70's

It's actually an FT, not an FE, though they are basically the same blocks Check the FE engine Forum on this site for more info. There was a regular duty 330 and a Heavy Duty 330. We've got one of each in our 2 F600's.

Unless its something you really want, I wouldn't waste the money to do much to it. If you want an FE, get a 390. It's going to cost you the same to rebuild it and the 390 is a lot more motor.
