Hi Folks,
The original headlights on my truck were modified because they would not pass the German inspection (it had German license plates on it when I bought it). They are still in place, but have a hole cut into them and a smaller assemble glued in. I want to change them back because it looks like hell and doesn't shine worth a damn.
This is a three part question:
1) What year range do I need to look for?
2) Can an outer lense be replaced, or do I need a whole assembly?
3) If someone is familiar with paypal and has a set that they'd let go reasonable, please PM me or email me at davnull@yahoo.com
I just painted my truck and had all the lights removed. The headlights reflector and lense are all glued together so you'll need the complete piece. The whole assembly is actually 3 seperate pieces, the backing frame, the headlight, and the turn signal.
Have to agree with Conanski. I've been keeping my eyes open for a set for my truck (all frosted over these days) and all I have found are complete assemblies.
Tried it once. Really doesn't other me all that much though. After I get the bed straighted out and have her paint job cleaned up again, it might be worth trying to polish out all the sandblasting the North Texas weather did to em. Right now, the frosting just says 'old farm truck' with the rest of her appearance.
I replaced mine on a 89 . I got after merket ones . Polish is a joke I used to detail /buff ex on semis .I can make things shine but no luck with the lights and I tried 3 or 4 different products. Also I had deer damage on a 90 in 92 and the Light unit I got from ford was 3 in 1 unit . Good luck
87-91 will fit your truck. New lens/reflector assemblies are $40 each and complete assemblies with mounting brackets and turn signals go for $75. The guy in the link has them with free shipping. http://stores.ebay.com/lightitup4you_Ford_W0QQcolZ4QQdirZ1QQfsubZ3QQftidZ 2QQpZ2QQtZkm
For folks without german inserts you will not be able to fix up the existing lenses. polishing wont cut it. Been there and wasted time on that.
