6.5" seems big since the diameter of the speaker hole is only 5" ???

oh....I have 6.5s in my '79 Not sure what the hole diameter is/was then

Had 6.5" Sparkamatics when I got it, and the hole didn't look cut.

I know you can fit a 5 1/4" or 6 1/2" speaker. I have 5.25"s in my 77 truck, and 6.5"s in my 79 bronco. Both holes are exactally the same, and neither was cut.

6.5" is correct.

Buy the slim line series coaxial or triaxial.

I have Sony's in mine.

Memphis Studios in mine. Sounds GREAT! Been asked what size sub I have in my truck more than a few times. Not bad for two 6.5"ers!

(I listen to lots of rock BTW, especially 80s hair)

The size of the speaker isn't the size of the hole. I got some slim Infinity 6.5s in my 78 and the sound great in there. The hole is around 5 inches.
