Is tilt w/ a 4-speed truck pretty uncommon, or common ? Just curoius, my 4-speed truck has tilt, and it's the only one I've noticed with a 4-speed combo.

I want to get pix of my truck here to show you guys, but it's been raining for like 2 weeks straight !!1 She sleeps in the shop, and pix would look way better outside.

Daytona--off topic, but you are wrong about your wife's Civic. Mine's stock, too Keep hoping some young wannabe boyracer is going to make me an offer I can't refuse. Ah, but mine's a 4 door--must not be much of a market for those.

Can't get it to die, either. 165,000 miles--no smoke, no oil leaks, runs perfect. I think the body will rot off of it before it breaks down.

LOL 77. The wifes is an EX Coupe, 5-speed w/every option avialable in `94. Rock a$$ stock (except for a Kenwood reciever, but it came with the top of the line sound system), right down to the hub caps. 240,000 on the odo, and just had a small oil leak fixed (drain plug threads were tired), other than that in perfect conditon. GREAT cars.......

Well to answer the question about the common or uncommon tilt in a 4 speed, in order for you to actually get tilt (most cases) you have to special order the truck to come with the tilt, or you have to take a tilt out of a 70's bronco and modify the firewall for it to fit properly, i actually have a buddy of mine that's got a 73 f-100 like mine that just put a tilt steering in his and it's also 4 speed, so the answer to yer question is, it is very uncommon to find a 4 speed out there that's got tilt and it's very nice to have when yer muddin, if you don't want mudd on yer wheel when you get stuck, tilt er up bud...lol.

The biggest reason they are so rare is because they didn't even become available until 1978.

Then by 198? the ignition key was moved to the column and Tilt columns became a dime a dozen.

With a 4-speed title column you are looking at a 2-3 year window 78-81 or so.....Perhaps just 2 years (78-79).

Tilt columns were prevalent with XLT's & Lariats and were usually part of the package.

More optional in lessor Trim Packages.

I read the post about hard to find parts, interesting, thanks for pointing it out Mil1ion. Odd thing about that post, I also have a lighted passenger vanity in perfect condition. pulled it outta a `79 XLT and planned on installing it into my `79 shorty. Not many options left :-).
