It turns out the fuel pump was bad. The dealer wants $765 to install a new one. At that price, it looks like I'll be pulling the fuel tank this weekend. Thanks for all the help.
Well Im completely confused now. I guess other posters with thier descriptions of thier problem got me mixed up or us mixed up. I was under the impression you had dashes on the odometer and flashing theft light. That sure as hell wasnt a bad fuel pump.
Well if you swapped around relays one was for the fuel pump and one for the PCM. So you moved the bad PCM relay to the fuel pump position, and now the cluster and theft light work, but as I said this now makes the fuel pump inop. So go get a full sized relay and replace the fuel pump relay now that the PCM relay was replaced by the fuel pump relay you originally had. Then you should be good to go.
shoeman502,
I would like to believe you've swapped the full relays for the PCM and fuel pump a couple of times (back and forth, observed what happened, back and forth....) and you've come to conclusion there is nothing wrong with both relays. If so, then ignore the next paragraph.
IF NOT:
Listen to the man (HomerWinzlow). A full relay doesn't cost that much - you indicated you've replaced FUSES and not any relay. If in fact you've swapped the PCM relay (which per the man is bad when you see dashes and security flashing) with the fuel pump relay (which is what the problem now), it seems logocal that the relay originally for the PCM and now installed for the fuel pump IS the problem. If you start with the relay, the worst that could happen is that you will end up with a spare full relay.
