ok, will check it out...just want to know if there might be something else causing my tranny problems before i order any parts since the shipping and taxes are quite expensive....
Seb...
my speedo and odometer works just fine, just the tach that is dead for a few minutes and the tranny not shifting(after start)....what is strange is that the tranny works perfectly when the tach finally "comes to life" (lack of a better word) until the next time i turn the engine off, then the same procedure when starting her up?
could it still be the VSS?
I will do a overhaul on the rear end, don´t think it been don lately....
Thanks for all the help guys, really appreciate it!!

Peter,
Chances are it is your VSS that is giving you trouble. The VSS provided both a mechanical output to drive the odometer as well as an electric output to drive the speedometer and control the tranny. The VSS is a double function device and you will need to replace it as a unit (can't be repaired). As I said above it is located in the tail end of your transfer case.
if you trans is not shifting right and your tach is not working that is the problem computer needs engine speed input.. its your tach sensor on top of the engine by the oil fill... two wires to it I think a 1" hex on it..
replaced the VSS, tachsensor and RABS sensor and still no improvment....tach dead for a while and tranny acting wierd.
Noticed today that I cant turn off the OD while the tac is dead (OD is turned on/off by pressing a button)
I need all the help i can get on this one

Finland
My gut feel is that it is you Tachometer going dead that is causing the tranny problems and setting the blinking OD light. You might want to do a resistance check on the new tach sender you installed to ensure it is working properly.
Short of that the next possible explaination would be some "ground" problems that are causing your problems. Make sure you got good battery ground, engine ground and body ground connections.
If you can get yourself a OBD-I scanner, ($30 at Wall Mart, not sure how you could get one in Finland) do a scan on the transmission and see what codes are comming up.
I did a resistance test and it showed 2500 (read on the forum that it should be around 2400 - 3000)
OD light is not flashing it is just not possible to turn on or off...while the tach is dead
could it still be a bad ground eventhough everything works as normal once the tach start working
about a scanner...went to our local motorcraft dealer today and they didnt have one...dont know if wall mart ship overseas
appreciate all the help!

Peter,
Send me an Email today with your shipping address and as long as I get it before tomorrow night I will courier you my scanner and Code Book. Unfortunately, I am away for two weeks after tomorrow so I would have to know all the shipping information before then.
