My Trailer Disconnect light keeps comming on.I have pulled a number of trailers with my 06 F250 PS and on bumpy roads it comes on every 15 sec's or so. Ford had me put a ground wire from the trailer plug direct to the brake ground wire and said that is the cure.We sell enclosed trailers so i tried with a number of trailers and it still does it. Any Ideas???
I would check the connectors. On my old truck (without the ford brake controller) I had to re-due the connectors because the lights would flicker and go out unless I had the connection just so.
Look in the engine compartment fuse panel near the master cylinder. Check for a 2 amp fuse that may not be installed properly (beside the slots rather than directly in). If you find that fuse improperly installed, check the rest of the fuses, as they may be in the same situation.

Try what CanadaGuy said . If it does it with any trailer I would think its the truck problem somewhere. I had a trailer do it but my other trailer didn't so I knew it was with that one trailer. It ended up being the the electric brakes at one wheel that was doing it. I had to isolate each wheel by disconnecting each brake one at a time untill I found which wheel it was. It was a triple axle and was the fifth wheel I tried.
BASSHUNTER---Yes, I had to put a new connector on the truck. I think it just got used and abused like the cord on a vacuum cleaner. I also put a new connector on the trailer.
Thanks Guy's, I checked the fuse panel and the 2a fuse was installed properly.I pulled my travel trailer and it does't do it.I hooked onto a new 14' enclosed we sell and it will do it every 5 miles or so,then when i go bouncing down a bumpy road or like yesterday taking it into a courgated field to go hunting it would do it every 15 sec's or so.Today i pulled another trailer with brakes and it did the same.It obviously is in the brake system because the red trailer light (on the integrated system)flashes at the same time that the dissconnect light comes on. Thanks
Try this, When you hook the trailer up, get in the truck and manually engage the trailer brakes. If the trailer turns red, and the check trailer message broadcasts across the message display in the dash, the trailer is wired wrong. I had this happen on our wash trailer at work. They had the power wire and the brake output wire backwards. The guy I work with tows it with his Dodge and it works correctly (he wired his brake controler himself, go figure) for him. Rather than tell him he don't know how to hook up a brake control, I bought an extra 7 to 6 adapter (trailer has the stupid dot connector on it) and swapped the 12+ and the brake output wires around.
My horse trailer did the same thing. The only one of 4 i pull to do it. I don't use it much and kept forgetting to fix it. It finally drove me crazy enough to replace the plug on the trailer.
Thanks for the info.I think the plug must be bouncing and losing connection.I am going to try to tie the plug to the plug-in to see if that cures the problem. Both plugs are brand new but the trailer plug is loose fitting. Thanks
