I'm posting this question for my buddy. He has a 2000 PS dually. It recently began leaking fuel from the fuel filter housing. He states that it is not leaking from the filter, but from something he believes to be an overflow/over pressure(?) thing on the filter housing. Does this sound familiar to someone? Has anyone else encountered fuel leakage near the fuel filter housing?
It's probably the two o-rings behind the drain valve. Lately there has been many of these going bad due to ULSD fuel. Use the search engine in this forum to find more information on this subject. It's a inexpensive fix. If your good with your hands you can do it in about an hour. Somewhere in the forum several people have given detailed instructions how to do it. Good Luck!
Everyone here is correct. Easy to repair for even the freshmen wrench turner. I'm not so sure I'm ready to attribute the cause to the new ULSD. Our trucks are aging, what is the life of an O-ring? I definately think that based on what I know about the new ULSD, it is not helping this situation though.
yeah, mine stated pouring diesel when i started it up one morning. i didn't have time to fix it myself so i took in into my mech. he charged me around 60 bux for a new lever and o-rings and 40 bux for labor. It was all good by the time i got out of school.
side note: i usually run bio diesel, but the last 2 tanks prio were ulsd from 76, and Cheveron, and i used DK in one of the fill ups.
