Where to start ?

Hey every one , I am ready to start getting some more power out of my truck but i don't know where to begin , I have looked in to Banks , and BD but not sure who do go with or if there are better people to do business with.
I have an 03 7.3 mostly stock, K&N drop in and 5" stacks, stock down pipe, 8 inch lift with 38x15.5x20 tires, it is an auto so im worried about the the tranny also. any help would be great, thanks !

First, get guages (pyro, tranny, boost) to monitor things.
Second, dp-tuner.com (no need to say more)
Third, brianstruckshop.com (valve body for the tranny)
Fourth, keep the K&N clean (they are not popular with our turbos)
Fifth, 4.10 of 4.30 gears will help with those 38inch tires.

#1: Get Gauges: EGT, Boost, Trans if Auto
#2: Intake, the problem is the stock box. Kwik, AIS, or AFE
#3: 4" Down Pipe
#4: DP Tuner...

More of the same as above. I also strongly second the regear, it will make turning those 38s a lot easier. I'd say 4.3s would be the better set

A 4.57 gear would put you back at stock, and the closest to that is a 4.56, so i would do that. Or 4.88 gears will give the equivalent of a stock truck having a 3.98 gearset from the factory. If i were you, i'd do the 4.88's.

Take a look at this thread for mod ideas.

is it just a ring and pinion? or the whole install kit? Or even a whole axle? PM me with the details, thanks. I'm very interested.

hey guys thanks for the info ! These DP tuners, why do you all recomend them so much are the better than the Banks big hoss and six gun? and all the edge stuff? Im just a little worried because I have never heard of the company. Price is not an issue I just want the best over all product but at the same time Im not trying to pay for the name. As for the gearing the truck was stock with 3.73 but i run alot of hiway and never leave the street so would it be worth the money to change them over? I imaging it would be quite pricy since its a 4x4 and all.
I just want to burn rubber and blow smoke .lol and maybe save a little fuel when crusing around.

The reason he isn't known like the major companies such as Edge and Banks, is because his products are so good that they do not need to be marketed. One person buys it, tells two people about it, and they buy it. I have never seen a DP Tuner advertisement in any major magazine. The fact that business travels by word of mouth is true in this case, and this guy's programming will blow them away. Banks has good stuff, but you need to buy it as a whole entire kit to get it to "talk" with each other, and even at that, it is way overpriced. I started out with an Edge Juice/attitude like most of the newbies. Then stacked it with an Evolution. I learned about the chip thing, and then i sold the Juice/Attitude for some analog pillar gauges. Then once i got them, i bought a chip, however i was convinced by the seller that this TS performance chip is just as good as the DP Tuner chip, and he cut $50 off of the price and i bought it. Right after that i was kicking myself for not getting the DP first. Now i have a DP tuner 8 position chip, and i think it would be funny to buy an evolution now, just to see how damn weak those programs are. That is just talking about power. The transmission tuning has alot to do with it too. The rest just fools the computer into a false reading, which then it compensates for it, delivering more fuel and nothing else. This chip is completely custom, i listed my mods to Jody over the phone and he said he could tweak it due to my larger turbo and things like that. I can guarantee that my 80economy tune on my new chip is more powerful than the "140 extreme" tune on my old chip. Oh, and don't even think about comparing the DPtuner to any banks or Edge "crap" IMHO. Not to mention that i think 3 of the 5 top horsepower/speed 7.3's are DP-tuned.

Some other things that jody can do are CUSTOM (can't do any of the following with Edge or Banks)- propane or water/methanol injection, nitrous tunes, aftermarket injectors or cam tuning, lope idle tune (which i have and is awesome, sounds like it has a lumpy cam), high idle, no start, custom dyno files which keeps the TC locked and won't downshift, smoke tunes, no smoke tunes, sled pulling files, drag racing files, etc. This guy even answers his phone and answers questions on sundays.

Well I'd love to add something - lol - but Kris just covered anything I had to say and more. So I'll just go with the standard - Yea, what Strokin said!

Jody is #1 in my book, and it took me 1 tuner and 1 "other brand" chip before a DP Tuner chip found a permanent home in my rig!!
