WOW! $120 isn't even synthetic? Thank god I change my own. Less than 50 bones including filter and Rotella Syn and ten minutes. I find it funny when guys say they don't have the time to change their oil, but they have time to go to the dealer to have it changed. 10 minutes instead of at least a 1/2 hour at the dealer if you're lucky right? Just my piece of mind that everything got done right is worth it.
As far as doing it cheaper and with someone that might know what they're doing with a diesel, have you checked a truck stop or something similar? Might be more expensive, I don't know. Just a thought.
The only reason it has gone back to the dealer is for Warranty issues and to have the transmission pan dropped and inspected for metal after my rearend was ripped out in an accident. 20,500 miles today and it's going to be Synthetic from now on.
I guess I am just going about it all the wrong way then. I just drive it around to the back of my office and have the company mechanic change it for free. I guess thats what happens when you have a fleet of 200 trucks on the road though.
I pay $58.90 from my Ford dealer in north Texas - that's out the door with taxes and everything. I go there every 6 weeks and have done so for 20 months now. 15 quarts and filter plus all the check points and lube. I have paid as much as $73 for a Ford dealer oil change (north Dallas). Got quoted $90 by one dealer in the Ft. Worth area and walked away.
I can't imagine why you are getting quoted over $100. Can there really be that much of a difference in dealer prices?
