Unhappy Please Help!!!!!!!!!!

Ok. I changed the heater core in my 99 Ford F150, it was so much fun! Anyway, I got it all put back together, drove it down the road. It went into gear fine, I tried to put it in Park and it would not go. I removed some of the interior covers and everything appears to be put back together properly.
Could someone please tell me what is wrong?!?!?

Is the cable hold down locked in place at the bracket and on the lever pawl? If the cable came loose at the bracket then the whole cable assembly is moving instead of the inner cable only. It is possible to break the cable too. You need to see what all is moving when you move the lever up and down.

Thanks Homer, I'm gonna check it in the morning. I'm too disgusted tonight! That sorta makes sense because the shifter is moving with almost no resistance once you pull it back and try to change gears. I bought the truck used and the gear selector has never gone into park although the truck would be in park; ie., it would read reverse instead of park and neutral would be drive. Again thank you for responding! Any other wise counsel would be greatly appreciated!

Sounds like my expy, theres a little plastic piece on the gear idicator cable that broke and makes it impossible to adjust the cable so it is right in the center of the gear its in. I managed to get it close, it was out like yours before I rigged it up.
