I know at least one exist(ed). I have a friend who has one that is kind of a half-moon shape after being rearended really hard. However, it could have been a motor swap or anything else.
They do exist, there was recently one for sale locally. It was a 1996. Before I bought my truck was looking for a short box as wellbut they are usually hard to find in decent condition. Why are you looking for a short box? Don't get me wrong I like the look of short box 4x4's but I'm glad I got a long because I have dual tanks and lots a room even with my tool box.
Lots of them out there . In 95 and 96 (I bought new 95 reg cab 5.0 5sd 4x4 ) All the local Pa dealers had the six manual /auto 3.55 gears combo reg to super cab on lot . If you wanted a v8 you had to order it. . I loved the short box . Easy to get around town in . And if put bronco tank in back for extra gallons good to go. good luck
Well I have my F-350 right now, CC and Long Box, but basicaly this F-150 would be my daily driver. I'd put a tool box in it, further killing space but it isn't really for hauling. I'd probably also put a bronco 40gal in.
I basicaly want a truck that I can haul some with, 4wheel some with, and well... I don't want a car and my current DD car is going out the door. With the short box it's a little easier to get around town, and if I need to haul I can use a trailer. If I can't find anything then a long box will work.
I've watched ebay for about a month, havn't found one.
I want the Inline for torque and gas mileage... basicaly a little low end grunt but decent gas mileage. Right now im getting 4.5/10 with my truck... so that inline would be a HUGE improvement and I could actualy afford to drive it.
This truck will last me through college, and will still be a daily driver/work truck after college, when I buy a 97 F-350 CC PSD Long Box to use for hauling/travel.
thanks so far for the help! glad to know it exists
Only 12? thought with 3.55's I might be able to get higher. Really though 12 isn't too bad, however, it would make more sense just to pony up and buy a PSD(reg cab/long) instead, get about the same gas mileage, but better towing + power.
I'll read through the 4.9 gas mileage threads and see what I come up with.
Me again Had a 93 F150 sc beater truck and worked in Pittsburg Pa. This truck got 13 MPG in down town with 3.55 rears. As for 3.55 rears Of the 15 or so F150 /broncos none had anything higher than 3.55 and couple 4.10s . I had a company truck with beleive 3.08 rears (I never worked on it so not sure. ) Six 5 spd it would hardly back up with a light load on. And got lousy milage had to run in 4th all time . Good luck on search
