Hey guys, I got a 96 F350 with a 7.3 Diesel with an E40D. A couple of days ago I noticed a slow drip from up above the starter, so I dug around a bit. I checked the engine comp. above the starter only to find a puddle of diesel fuel directly below the turbo, on the manifold. Before I start ripping things apart, I was wondering if anybody had any thoughts on what it might be?? It's not a fast leak, but it looks like it is concentrated near the injectors. What should I do??
thanks fellas

If the leak is in the rear of the valley near the turbo, first dry up all of the fuel using a long screw driver and paper towels. Then check your engine valley regularly and when you see the first signs of fuel note the location. Rear of valley could be fuel pump, fuel hoses, banjo bolt, fuel line connectors. Front of valley could be fuel filter housing cracked, leaking fitting on filter housing, fuel lines, o-ring in water/fuel drain. The bottom of the fuel pump has a small weep in it, and if the diaphram is going in the pump it will leak from there. Also check all of the fuel hoses from the pump to the fuel filter housing. Check the banjo bolt and the connectors on the end of the metal "V" fuel line going to the each head from the banjo bolt (these have o-rings in them that can go bad). Let us know what you find.
I will as soon as I get a chance to dig around in there. Thanks again, and from what you said, it sounds like it has something to do with just a leaky hose, judging by its location. I'll let you know
I had the same issue with my 2000 PSD and it came down to the o-rings on the fuel filter housing drain valve. My diesel techs (Colorado Diesel in Castle Rock - good guys) told me that they have had a bunch of PSD's in recently with the same issue. they seem to think that the new ULS Diesel is eating these o-rings up.
I hope it isn't going to eat the seals on the injectors - yikes!
i noticed today i had a constant drip when i first start it up in the morn, it is dripping down both sides of the tranny, i think it the connection at the back of each head, how hard is it to charge the o-rings on these? it looks like you have to pull the turbo and such.
I had dry rot hoses from the fuel boost pump to the fuel filter, there are three down there all about 3-4 inches long replaced those three and I was good, quick fix 1-2 hours along with removal cleaning and shimming of FPR and screen and cleaning up my valley.
I went to finally go dig around under the turbo, but it looks like Ford mysteriously fixed itself again. The puddle is still there, but it doesn't leak anymore. I think i may still go and replace those seals and whatnot. If it happens again, I'll keep you up to date on how it goes.
Thanks much guys

Does anyone have the part numbers for the three little blue hoses?
I have an 02 and an 03. However my buddy has a 97. His orings in the fuel drain valve are leaking. I have read how to change them in my trucks (should I develop a leak) But I do not know how to change them in his truck. I am assuming it is similar even though his fuel bowl and drain petcock are a little different. Any advice on this before we dig in?
