Question high idle

Drove the truck 300 miles, stoped and let it idle for like 20 minutes.During that time the idle would go way up as if it were a cold moring.Hit the brake it would back down.Never noticed this before. It does do this on cold mornings so I hit the brake and it goes back down.2001,7.3. Thanks

Must have been really cold. Any time certain temperature conditions are met and the truck is parked it will kick up the idle.

It won't happen too often. Last time mine did it, it was about 3 degrees and the nose was pointed into a 30 mph wind at a truck stop. Really cold.

Yes, it's normal like Scott said. Did you catch what RPM the high idle was at?
