Ok, so my turbo is going out, well at least i think it is... its making some crazy noises just like one that’s going out but it still feels fine as far as play goes... anyway... i have the 99 turbo cuz its a 1.10 ar and i want to do something bigger so im thinking I’m gunna change all the stuff to 99.5 stuff so what do i need to grab of a junk truck... the turbo pedestal, ecu, if I take the hpop will that do anything for me?? help me out on what I need to grab I have access to a bunch of junk PSDs so let me know what i should be looking for Thanks
That being said, grab the turbo, pedestal, five way manifold, intake manifolds, intercooler pipes, and down pipe. That should pretty well convert it to 99.5 specs. Not really any need to replace the computer or HPOP.
i know that the 99.5 turbo isnt bigger its actually smaller, im saying I want a bigger turbo and no one wants to make them for 99s so i have to convert the ped and such to 99.5 stuff, what the heck is the 5 way manifold??
right now your early 99 has no surge..if you up date with a stock turbo from another truck you will have that surge...are you planning on that van turbo in your sig? or are you useing the parts truck turbo?? i want to up grade my early 99 as well.. but i want to do it right....cant aford a new turbo now..this is a swap over kit http://www.dieselsite.com/index.asp?...ROD&ProdID=276 the five way manifold is on the left side in the picture..
That's the one smak dab in the middle of everything. It connects the turbo outlet to the intercooler tubes to the intakes....kind of hard to see it on Riley's site.
I assume you're aware that the ebay link you posted is a van turbo. If you're planning on something bigger like an H2E and the like then forget the 99.5 conversion. The way big huffers don't use most of that stuff anyways.
yea i knew that was the van turbo, so if I go with like the H2E wheres the best place to pic one of those up?? and what do they use thats different, you mean i wouldnt have to change the pedestle and manifold

I converted my early 99 with a van turbo and ATS housing. It is a great setup, I love it. You don't need the intercooler pipes or down pipe though. If you're planning to go to bigger injectors, you'll want to grab that HPOP as well.
