Chrome Wheels
The Ranger wheels with the chrome skins on them, can the covers be removed easily. Or are they attached with an adhesive. I want to remove them and paint the wheels. Any one done this. Thanks in advance.

The stock ranger 7 spokes are chrome plated from the factory. If you get the painted steel 7 spokes you can buy a chrome plated plastic simulator that has clips to hold it on. The simulators are about $50, i think you can get them from JC Whitney. I had the covers on my 7 spokes for about 2 years, and they held up pretty good, but started to get some chips fromt kicking up rocks, and broke donw and got aftermarket alloy rims.

Thats the ones I am talking about the wheels have a thin chrome cover on them it looks like the wheels themselves are chromed but if you pull on the edge of the spokes you can feel it pull away. Also if you pull the center cap off you can see it is not attached to the wheel. Yet the outer rim is very tight. A cheap way for Ford to chrome wheels I guess.
