Instrument Cluster Chrome

I noticed on RaleighDad66's gallery (and on others) that the instrument cluster housing on the Custom Cab interior is CHROME, which looks infinintely better than mine, which looks like the chrome has worn off and the grey plastic is all that's left.

Have you guys been chroming yours?

That actually looks like an aftermarket piece. If you PM who owns that truck I am sure they will tell you where they got it. For the life of me I can't find the site that sells them.

Original Custom Cab sweep speedo dash plates should be chrome. The chrome turns to crap over time. Getting them replated has always been a problem, with very few suppliers able to handle plastic chroming.
The good news is that Dennis Carpenter has repro'd them, and they are a phone call away. The bad news is they aren't cheap, but that's to be expected with chrome anything.

Not aware the chromed plastic dash was available. Few years ago had 65 plastic dash reconditioned by company out of Tx., very please with results. Repaired couple minor cracks and rechromed, if recall, came to around $125. If able to find repo, or nos certainly would go that route, appears to be cheaper. Topic came up fairly recently where FTE member considering sending dash for reconditioning and happened to be same company. It would be interesting to get his input, can't recall how long ago topic posted, may be too soon. May want to run a search.

Went to D.C. website, it's really great to see additional products being reproduced for these vintage trucks. See they are due to arrive in early 2007, hopefully they will post pic's when item arrives. Not to sound too discouraging, but D.C, as well as other Ford part suppliers, list some of their products as "arriving soon" that were posted some 2-3 years ago. Anyhow, keep the repro's coming.

Steve aka Raleigh Dad, bought the truck with most of the work already done to it. It is a very sharp truck.

Tis my understanding that Carpenter does the coming soon thing on a regular basis.

While we are waiting for the "coming soon" to get here, seems we might be able to find some sort of decal sheet or such that has the prism-type appearance. Maybe this is how I can get the wife involved; have her look thru the crafts stores, etc. I'll let you know if "we" come up with anything.

They sell plastic sheets of the stuff at crafts stores. I found a bunch of it earlier today at Micheal's. And before I start getting called names like "girlie man", there are a lot of items you can use there for customizing your interior.

Hey girlie man aka "airharley"; (just kidding) thanks for the tip on Micheals; I too wish "coming soon" was a true statement. Has any one check Carolinia Classic for dash bezel?
100 bucks for a clean crisp chrome looking bezel would be great.
