Spark Plug suggestions

Hey guys, been a while since I've been here but still value the opinions. I'm back to driving my 79 and don't like how its acting. I found a defective mechanical advance in the dizzy and have replaced. Still have a slight hesitation and some run-on issues. I'm assuming i have unburned fuel. I've changed the Edelbrock back to stock jets and rods so its good to go. I've always been partial to NGK plugs, any other suggestions? My next step will be replacing the coil after I resistance check the plug wires.
Thanks, Dave

Plug wires are cheap and a resistance check will not show bad insulation, just replace them if they are over 2 years old. Run on with a carb motor is usually cause by hot spots in the combustion chamber (AKA carbon build-up).

well, more trouble and more info. My engine only has about 10k miles on it since the rebuild. Its been about 5 years since I did it and it hasn't been driven much at all for the last 4 years. Anyway, this morning on the way to work, it just dies. Just like you turn off the key. I fought it the last 5 miles and made it. I'm guessing the control module is going south. I'll pull out the spare tonight and see if it makes a difference. It may be my run-on problem too. Its either the module or the key-switch, I've had to clean it before also.

quick update for you guys. I changed out my plugs to new NGK v-powers and found one bad plug. wet with gas, no fire. Also my key switch was losing contact and so I cleaned the contacts in it. Engine runs like a top again with all 8 firing and no more dropping out on the side of the road.
