hoping my title might get me some lookers and mabye some help.
i have what i can best describe as a thump- thump or a whump- whump at idle. i can hear it through the air filter the best. it almost sounds like a miss but, the motor runs fine, even under load. any insight would be appreciated.
I think mine does the same thing if its what I think you are talking about .. I have my exhaust cut off and hear it in my exhaust mostly. I have heard a lot about the v-10 having what sounds like a miss at idle. Mine runs and drives fine as well so I am not too worried.
Is there a cat stuck in the fan? It could be the cat hitting the radiator shroud.
Is this sound constant (thump-thump-thump-thump)
or
does it come and go in rhythm (thump-thump-----------thump-thump---------)
or
Is it like totally random, man? (thump-thump-------thu------mp--thump-da-da-thump-thump------thump---------------thumpthumpthump-----------thump-------th-------u---------m-------------p)
Do you have a digital camera? Does it have a video camera feature? If so, record the noise and post up the video. I can recommend a couple a sites that'll host it for free.
the idle drops mabye 100-150 rpms when it does it. and yes it is rhythmic. does it about 10 times and smooths out for a minute and then does it again. keeps going in cycles. also, no accessories are on (a/c or anything else) that would cause this.
