If the price is right and it's not color matched to something in the Wifes Sweater drawer it's better than Rust.
"Quality is remembered long after the price is forgotten". I bet for a few bucks they'd switch to black powder. I just think gray might look like primer, like it was half-done. I've never seen a rig done in gray, they're all black or match the body color.
I agree, he said black and grey were used the most. I will probably just wait a day or two and have it done in black. But if it is a problem, I will take gray over rust any day.
grey could be a nice touch, especially if you painted the underside of everything else black, would give a very clean look. All the Nascar chassis are painted grey, makes them easier to work on in dim light. With powder coating changing colors is a pretty big project, they recover any extra powder from the coating booth, so they need to clean it all down to not contaminate the powder with another color. Unlike paint, contaminated powder colors will give speckles. They aren't going to change it if they don't have to.
Gray can be pretty cool. I used to work for a bakery machinery manufacturer and we powder coated everything that wasn't stainless. We had two colors, white and gray. I did an entire 63 VW Beetle in gray. And I mean every part of it. If it was steel it got powder coated.
But I would still do the frame in black.
Black it is. I will try to cut the bed off tomorrow and start undoing the cab and front clip. I will send the body to the frame to the powder coater. $300.00 for sand blasting and coating. Not to bad.
