Anyone with an Escape used Weathertechs auto vent shades, or any
other inchannel brand shades? Did it cut down on the wind noise at all?
Any other positives or negitives using vent shades. I personally don't like
the tape on vent shades because they seem to stick out so far. I do like
to drive with my rear windows down a bit to get fresh air and would like to
get Weathertech if they're worth the money. Thanks
Scotts I have the ventshade brand. I have the stick on and they don't stick out too far but I guess it is a personal opinion matter. I wanted the in channel but they were a birthday gift from my wife and I wasn't going to say anything negative about them. HAHA!! I know some other people that have the in channel and the news I have heard is that it doesn't do a lot for the wind noise. The Escapes have a boat load of wind noise. I have taken the roof rack bars off and it helps a little. Hope this helps....
I put the vent shade brand on my wifes escape and they seem to be just fine as far as sticking out. And really i have never noticed that much wind noise with or without them, maybe im def, put up here in the NW when it rains i mean alot its always nice to let fresh air in without getting soaked.
Thanks for the info, the more I've been thinking about it, it would seem the stick on type like Ventshade would probably be quieter since it should defect the air away from the window channels. I had that brand on a Toyota truck I used to have and really liked them alot. On nice days I just roll my back windows down until I get the right airflow, but can't do that with my girls in the back seats, teenagers are bit picky about their hair!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Interesting about taking the roof bar off, I believe I saw a sticker on the Hyundai Santa Fe that said to keep the front bar behind a certain mark to keep wind noise down. Thanks Again!
The front windows can be cracked and the Weathertechs will keep the rain out. I didn't notice any noise reduction or increase. The way the back windows open (they pull away at the rear), the Weathertechs don't help.
