I just finished doing the ports on my D3VE's today... it took all day. I used an angle grinder and some different bits. I opened up the intake ports to match the larger ports on my new intake, and I ground out the bumps in the exhaust ports. It's not professional by any means, but they're deffinitely better than they were.

an f250 is inherently a bad racecar- its way way too heavy... if you want something fast go get a 1980's fox body mustang or thunderbird with a blown engine, and put your 460 and c-6 into it- and totally blow away the ricers

yea i figure the 250 was to heavy i already figured on swapping it into a pony in the future

The most bang for your 500 bucks is going to be the following:
1. A 1970 straight up timing gear and chain set. This will really wake up the engine, even with the stock heads, carb and intake. This wil cost you about $100 in and out the door with gaskets and all.
2. If you have it, put in a new "RV" type camshaft. It will cost more for intake gaskets and the like, but the work is a natural follow-on to do while you are doing the timing gear.
3. If you can pony up the extra while you are at it, put on an aftermaket intake with a decent new carb. Look at Edelbrocks' total package setups, which include the cam, intake and carb. They mate them up for a wide variety of intended applications.

I would strongly recommend you save up and do it all at once, to save on doing the work twice. That is how I did it, and it was well worht the patience it took to wait and do it all at once.

keep in mind thr ricers are harder to beat than most think i was a former ricer myself i had a honda del sol with a 1.6 single non vtech that was blowing away v8 powered stangs and camaro's i have respect for the ricers but i am glad i went back to my root's but anyhow even if you drop in your 460 with some head work and a mild cam you will still have a hard time passing them ricers unless the ricers in your area only have coffie can mufflers and a cold air intake then you should beat them up but there might be a few with alot of interanal mods nos,turbos,supercharged and way lighter than a big block fox car i have a few 460's one is a new build up with the d3 heads but i am running a dome piston the others is a set of scj's kasse heads no matter what you decided in my opion these 460's like compression you can still run pump gas with a dove head if you want a street daily driver and a rice beater you might want to open the bottom end remember you can always swap in a differnt cam headers heads when the motor is in the car so if your thinking about trasplanting it might be easyier to get the bottom end done than you can always go from there just my 2 cents i was in the same boat last year with my dads stock pulling truck i wanted to save him cash so i left the bottom stock and did the top end and now i got to pull the motor build the bottom end

I have rice pickup (1982 Toyota 4x4 pickup) powered by a now fresh 350 through a th350 into a 9" ford (with locker) in the back. According to the build sheet, it makes about 420 hp. I am thinking of running a 200 hp NOS system on it too just for more giggles. Is hasn't been beat yet, but it will be at the track this summer I'm sure. I am hoping to break into the 11s with it - we'll see. It is funny in a way, if you floor it at the green light (no brake needed) you don't go anywhere... a true three gear burn out without going anywhere. That sure is hard on the tires - what tires? I really enjoy rediculous amounts of power. You should see my 12 foot rowboat, it is going to get a 50 hp jet this year to chase salmon. I have a feeling it is going to go kinda fast. I wonder if I should get a crash helmet?
