Post 1960 F100 Wrap around rear window

Hey, I was wondering about a 1960 F100 with a wrap around rear window that I bought a couple of years ago from a guy. It is a standard short box with a new 292 in it and 3 on the tree. I have looked around different places looking for others but have yet to see one. Was this a rare truck or am I wrong on the year of it? If anyone has some information about that kind of truck I would greatly appreciate it. I would like to know how to treat the restoration.

Thanks, Trevor Baker

Hi Trevor,
When you refered "standard short bed", I wasn't sure if you meant Flareside or Styleside. Anyway, for the 1960 F-100 Flareside 2wd, the production number was 27,383. The big back window was an option. This was not a rare truck at the time, and I do not believe it is considered to be rare today (though I don't know how many are still in existance today).

1960 F100 Wrap around rear window

Hi Kenny,

How hard would it be for a good body man to put the big rear window in a standard cab providing he had a donor truck to pull the metal from? Any chance the 56 would fit?

Charles,
I'm sure a good metal man could figure out the best route to split the factory seams or else section it to transplant the window opening. But can you get aftermarket replacement glass for the big window? I'm pretty sure it's wider than the '56 big back glass.
Adios,
Brett

Charles,
I'm with Brett on thinking it's different from the '56 big back window. I also agree that if you had the sheetmetal from a doner, a good body man would know what to do (though I wouldn't say it would be "easy" to any degree). The cat's meow would be to find a doner with decent glass.

i have the 58f100 big back window cab i swapped the cabs , had the small back window in the first one, the windows differ from the 56,s and i do believe from what i see that the 57 and 58 ford station wagon tailgate windows look the same as the truck ?? dont know for sure but darkman, as you may have already found out ?? there isnt much for any repro parts for this years of trucks ??? , and the originals are hard to come by ?? i dread if somebody evcer breaks the rear window in mine ?? but i have seen your project truck in your gallery , it doesnt look to bad to begin with , if money is no concern , hey do what ya want, mine started out as a simple restoration HA but got worse as the time went on lol and i had the dash welded up with no radio holes left , hacked from before ,
some day i will have kenny or somebody help me with my gallery of picks , truck is nice , few odds and ends to tie up and ?? i will find what wont work ??? lol hbut 2 tone long wheel base big back window 272 3 spd overdrive custom cab truck, my health went to hell in the middle of this project too lol wonder why, i have many parts for these year truck bet ,,, sorry i know what its like to get them and i have them hidden away LOL some day ,, i will sell what i dont need ,, but not today , so good luck to all with the 57 to 60 trucks , you will need it , but lets all keep in touch to show that these are not forgotten !!!
