Header and Cat project issues

89 F250 4.6/7.5, reg cab, 4x4, everything is still stock.

Uh oh, what have I done?

I got some Headman Headers (no need to preach about your favorite brand of headers here) and a new high flow single-in/single-out Cat to install.

First Question: Since my very old busted-up Cat has the 4-bolt inlet attachment, how do I attach my new Cat that has a 2.5 inch pipe for the inlet? Cut the inlet of the old Cat off to 'splice' the new one on?

I have a new Cat-back exhaust sitting in the box to install too which expects 2.5" Cat outlet so I should be good there.

Second question: should I, or do I need, new pipes from the headers to the cat?

I'll be taking the exhaust manifolds and pipes off before I do the oil pan and rear seal, but I'd like to have the right plan and 'stuff' in place before demo.

Thanks in advance!

Are your headers shorties? If so you should be able to use the factory Y pipe. You are replacing the whole exhaust it sounds like so don't be affraid to cut where necessary.
