Haven't had to do that yet, sand under the tires-but you never say never. Besides it was way too cold to mess with water up this way-wind chills around 0*. Nice today though-close to 50*.

One would think the PRICE of GAS would be motivation enough. You can feel the diff when you take them out. And, if your in college and umotivated, god help the future of this country...

there is a difference in motivation between taking stuff out of my truck and my job. i really love my major and what ill be doing. as for my truck, i am one of those, ull never know when u need this kind of guy. plus the fact that i have 3 homes right now and kansas weather is rediculously unpredictable. now as for unmotivated, mabey, but not when it comes to my job or trucks maintainance. my paint job may be ruined, but this truck has never seen over 2600 miles on an oil change....

Oh and

Matt

Nate, when I had my 90 4X2, I routinely commuted from Davis county into SLC with nothing more than cheap all season tires. I know the mountain roads are a lot different than I-15, but what I used for weight was the snow from my driveway. I had to park the truck outside anyway, so when I shovelled snow, most of it went into the back of the truck. Most of the time the weight was significant judging from the suspension sag. As the weather got warm and I didn't need the weight, it melted and ran out...sometimes. Once at a stop sign, I left a bed-sized chunk of snow on the ground after I accelerated from stop with the tailgate down. I don't think the driver of the little Honda behind me appreciated driving through it! I wouldn't dare venture to Park City in that truck though. I've since replaced it with a 94 4X4 with Bridgestone REVO's just installed. Even the lake-effect snow hasn't been enough to justify engaging the 4WD so far. I guess I'll have to wait to see how it really handles in the snow.

so true, my buddy ran stacks on his 250, all they became where beer can launchers. But as for weight in the back of the truck i use 5 gallon buckets filled with sand or water, usually water with a lid.

A cool thing about Ohio, when we get a deep snow, the bed fills up as well and adds weight. Damp snow is heavy.
