Today I put it in 4x4 low and pulled a fallen tree up to the flat so I could cut it up. Then I drove around the field and picked up large fallen tree limbs. I didn’t do much spinning and probably didn’t go over 5 mph the whole time. When I was finished I turned the **** from 4x4 low to 2wd. Unfortunately the “4x4” and “low” lights stayed on and the truck stayed in 4x4 low… I pulled a few mud clods from around the transmission and checked the fuses; I guess everything looks good. Which fuses are for the 4x4 ****? No clicking or anything going on under the truck. Any other ideas?
Thanks!

We assumed that you followed proper procedure to get out of 4low????
read the manual.
stopped on level ground, foot on brake ,in neutral then turn the switch!!!!!
When you stop and put the tranny in neutral, let off the brakes so the truck can unload the drivetrain. Then reapply the brakes and go through the shift procedure.
If the correct procedure doesn't work, then it's time to break out the electrical diagnostic equipment. Unfortunately, I don't know which fuse you can pull to get out of 4WD. Check your owner's manual and the "diagram" on the fuse box cover.
no fuse pulling will make the neat little electric motor shift the transfer case back to 2wd high
This is why I always stress using these systems frequently..... to keep then working and to properly break them in.
The ESOF transfer case motor is not very strong. To shift into, or out of, any of the three positions... it must not be loaded with a lot of back pressure or gear bind
If it worked that day to shift into 4x4 Lo the the odds are good the electrical side is working. Like others have said, the right conditions need to be set up to disengage the transfer case
If the weather is cold it may take a little longer to unlock the transfer case also. But make sure you are in neutral and back up a little after you turn the ****.
OK, I’m and idiot… I have had the truck for years and I know I have had it in low before, it’s just been a while and I forgot the procedure to disengage… I immediately started looking for what was wrong instead of how to do something right. Thank you all very much!
Don't feel bad. I did exactly the same thing a couple of months ago. Just forgot to put the dang thing in Neutral. I had it in Park. Won't work. I felt Stooopid.
