So, Comcast was supposed to come out and install phone service and upgrade the cable. When I ordered it, I was given a 4 hr window 8am to 12 pm.
I stayed from from 8-12 and at about 11:55 I get a voice recorded call from comcast stating my time window (8-12)and telling me the guy will be there at approx 12:45 ..... (way to hit that window i thought)
Obviously out of the window, but whatever... I'll go get lunch I thought... At 12:09. I get a call from a "dispactcher" that there is a comcast tech at my house but no one is home. I explain the recorded call and tell her I can be home in about 15 minutes. She tells me to hurry home and the tech will wait.
I get there 17 minutes later... no comcast guy BIG SHOCK...I figure I'll wait till 12:45.
12:45, I call comcast and talk to someone who tells me that again my window was 8-12. I explain the recorded call and the call from the dispatcher... and the fact that the guy DID actually show up outside of a 4hr (1/2 a day) window....I ask him to send the guy back, but the guy on the phone states that he's not in my area anymore... BS, if he was here 15 minutes ago, he's not far away..... I tell him that the dispatcher who called me earlier told me that the tech would wait.... he only claimed that the dispatcher had no control over the tech....
My conclusion is that if a person is mentally retarded, Comcast has some great job openings for them
Hint: If you are a very good complainer, there is 6 months of SOMETHING for free or half price. That's how we got our cable internet. That was for a tech on the phone being rude to my wife, she made another call and complained very politely, logically, and thoroughly. Damn she's good!
After the period was over we switched to DSL; with the firewalls, anti-virus, different servers, I can't tell much difference.
Comcast is a company that is mega-rich, offers no guarantees your TV or internet signals will be working well, and basically.. is operated by idiots. The three stooges could have set up a cable TV company and turned a profit. The cable TV business would have been great if there was any competition, we might have had better channel programming, lower costs, etc. unfortunately, comcast has a monopoly and could care less about service.
I even have the option to switch to the new fiber optic internet system offered by verizon, too bad for verizon, I happen to know they have poor service also.
Wow, I've had Comcast for years and had nothing but great service.
Then you're the exception. If I could get any kind of local channel reception through an antenna, I wouldn't be giving them the $12 a month that I am. I looked into satellite, but it isn't really any better than what comcast was charging me. I just can't see paying for so many channels that I don't watch...
I have Mediacom...I wish we had Comcast available here, Mediacom flat out stinks! Customer Service? What's that? Reliable Internet and cable service? Internet goes down frequently, sometimes only for a a few minutes up to 1/2 hour, once in a while for a day or more. TV comes and goes at will, picture is often lousy. This isn't just us, it's the whole area. They are always advertising special offers on programming packages for new customers, but existing customers can't get an upgrade package offer. I guess once they get in your pocket and get you signed up, you got nuthin' more comin'...
I'd go satellite, but the sat. Internet isn't that great as far as speed and price and Mediacom is currently the only high-speed option around here.

Maybe they figure that they had better be competitive with Microsoft making thier home here in the local area.
I went and picked up an HD box today, but they wont give me the phone box cause a "qualified" tech has to install it...
I then explained that I didnt have another 1/2 of a day to waste after yesterday....explained the whole story.... the lady didnt even offer an explanation, just a look of "i hear this everyday"
They gave me a DVR box by mistake... Maybe I can get it to work
I have DirecTV and love it, never have any problems. Have HDTV in the living room, actually just had an installer come out the other day to install a new HDTV - DVR box for me. I think the greatest thing about DirecTV is how willing they are to work with you on new equipment. I've never had a time where I couldn't call in and snag a bunch of free equipment and services.
Actually upgraded from the old HDTV TiVo reciever that DirecTV had going to the new HDTV DVR. I really enjoy the DVR much more due to the fact that it doesn't have all those annoying "click" sounds at every press of a button. Outside of that, to me it's just the same at TiVo.
