head gasket
I have an 04 F250 6.0 diesel.Have just been informed by the dealer that I need a new head gasket.Have had minor problems recently,including heat loss.Is this the kiss of death,why head gasket after only 50K miles?
Any insight would be appriciated.

No mods.,and I have dilligent with oil changes,HFCM draining every 1500 miles and fuel filter replacements every 15K miles.Will the head gasket be a reccuring problem?This is my 1st diesel,but my 5th F250.

No, they should replace them with the new style HG's, and then the only issue may be the head studs. If you don't have any mods though, you should not have to worry about the HG's or heads after the repairs.

I have an '05 F250 and had to get the HG's replaced shortly after I bought it (bought it used with 18,000 miles). It overheated when towing.....well, Ford replaced the HG's but it was still overheating while towing...this time Ford looked at the Heads and found out they were warped so those were replaced. Seems like I've read a lot of posts about warped heads in the 04's and 05's. I've only had it back a few days and haven't towed with it yet, but I'm sure it will be fine now.
