I have a couple of questions regarding the dual fuel tanks I have in my 1976 F-250. I have no owners manual or repair manual for this beast yet, and was wondering if anyone could tell me what the capacities of them are. They both are on the left side of the box, and I am guessing they are factory installed. I noticed the previous owner only filled the rear tank though, never the front.
My second question is, that I thought there would be a switch or lever in the cab somewhere to switch between the two. But I was cleaning out the cab today and looked all over for one, and could not find it.
Basic tanks are rear 19.5 midship about 22 look at your heater controls one side is fan the other should have a fuel tank selector. The actual valve is under the cab on the drivers side floor pan about mid way most times the grounds go bad and the valve quits working. I'm putting together a 79 and putting on factory dual tank setup but I think I will find a manual valve like the older trucks had, to avoid the hassle.
Yepperz, curiosity got the better of me, and I went out tonight to check it. It is indeed to the right of the heater controls. Can't believe I missed it. Will try putting gas in aux tank this weekend and see if it will pull from there.
Cool, thanks for the info. So if I have the same size tanks as your truck, then it will cost 94 dollars to fill them both from bone dry to full. Hope I never get it bone dry )
