Unhappy I need to identify a part. Help!!

My husband was replacing something on my '94 Explorer today. It was almost done and bumped into something and it fell apart. I don't know what the thing is and he isn't sure either. It is connected to two hoses coming from the firewall. And one looks to go straight through and then to the radiator. The other goes off in another direction. Then he said underneath it was this piece that looked like a UFO shape.

Well we have to replace it but have no clue what it is. Can any help???

Hello flathers and Welcome to FTE!

A little more information would help. What was your husband replacing and where did he bump into the unknown part? Not much goes to the radiator from the firewall except for heater hoses.

We believe it's the heater valve. But still not sure about the UFO shaped thing under it.

Thanks

is that u.f.o. shaped thing underneath that valve a possible vaccum diaphram? there is also two a/c lines coming from the firewall, and a txv has a sensing bulb on the end of it that resembles a u.f.o. i guess. but those lines would go to the condenser and not radiator.however, those are right next to each other.hope this helps
