Snow plow for Ranger?

Hello, I am thinking about installing a lightwieght snow plow on my 2003 4.0L 4x4 ranger. I would like to know if anyone has any advice on the best plow for the Ranger. I would be doing personal plowing olny. I have priced most of the brands and am leaning toward the Blizzard 6'8" or the Sno-way 22 series. If you have any advice please help. Thank you

I have a SnowBear 7' plow on my 03 4x4 ranger. It works fine for personal snow plowing. I have a lane that is 700ft long. I got it at Sam's Club for $600.00 during the summer as a left over display. It is a manual tilt plow and uses a SuperWinch winch to raise and lower the plow. The bracketry that snow bear send for my ranger was plenty strong enough and easily bolted to the frame.

How easy do you find the manual tilt to use? I am looking for a plow for my '99 b3000 and had seen the snowbears, but I am kind of leary of manual tilt.

Manual Tilt is no big deal for me. I set the plow at an angle to push snow to the right on the first pass down through. when i turn around to come back up the other direction you do not have to re tilt the plow it is already to go, it pushes the snow to the right or the opposite side of my driveway due to the reverse in direction of travel. I have room on both sides of my driveway to push snow, this would only be a problem if you had to push all the snow to one side.

Got a plow for Rusty that was on a Dakota. They torched the brackets of the frame. Can one buy just the brackets?

Pintopaul, Yes I have installed a plow. In January 07 I installed a Sno-way ST series with a 6'8" poly blade, deflector and wireless controller and down pressure. I plow mostly just my own lot witch is about 50' by 100'. I could not be more pleased with plow package. The plow is very light, under 300 pounds, has performed flawlessly and is very easy to connect and disconnect. I live just south of Buffalo, NY, in the snow belt, and have been amazed at how well she performs. The plow stacks snow very good for an 18" blade and the down pressure is an incredible feature. Again, I am very happy with with my choice. Though i spent a little more then the personal plows go for (Weekender or Suburbanite), I feel like I have a heavy duty plow built for a small truck. I have a friend who had a personal plow that was not very good, parts fail very fast and it performed badly and at $2700 compared to $3700 for the Sno-way, I feel that i made the right choice. Hope this helps

I offer 2 different kinds of plows for your Ranger. Snowsport and the Snowbear. Give me a call and I will give you a great price on either one of these.

And, no I did not have to cut the fascia on my XLT. I have also installed Timbren's to help with the added weight.

I use to see alot of plows on the first generation rangers, 84-88. I haven't seen any on newer rangers for whatever reasons.
