Hello to all. I just picked up my 2007 Lariat F250 6.0 PowerStroke yesterday. Plan on pulling a 32 foot 5th wheel camper with it. Never owned a Ford, but after doing extensive research comparing the big three, I'm convinced the Ford is truly the "pulling machine"! Don't have the camper yet (will be ordering later this month) but I'm already in love with the truck.
Has anyone done any discussing of after-market GPS systems on the forum? If so where would I go to find it?
Thanks! Look forward to learning a bunch from all of you!
Sounds like a very nice truck and I'm sure it will be up to the task you plan on using it for. As far as a forum to discuss GPS, I would recommend the Aftermarket forum and it might be worth looking at the Audio & Video Systems, Mobile Electronics forum to. There is a Towing forum and the SuperDuty forum to explore topics about your truck. Take your time and look around!
Welcome to the world of Ford diesels and FTE. Once you own a Ford diesel you'll never go back to gas trucks, there's no comparison.
I had an Alpine GPS system in my last diesel and it worked great. I cannot remember the model number now but it had all of the bells and whistles. We never got lost with it and that's what counts.
Say, Dan. When I read my original posting, there are words missing from the original text. For example, when I read my original text at the head of this thread, in my question about GPS's, the "GPS" got dropped in my copy. Apparently y'all can see it from your end since you responded about GPS's, but it isn't there as I read it now. ??
I've copied and pasted the sentence as it now appears to me: "Has anyone done any discussing of after-market systems on the forum?" If I remember correctly, my original entry said "after-market GPS systems". Also, in the first paragraph, my thread now shows: "I'm convinced the is truly the ..." If I remember correctly, I think it originally said , "I'm convinced the Ford is truly the ..." (or possibly F250 instead of Ford. Don't remember, but it definitely wasn't, "the is".)
Sorry to seem such a pest! Trying to imagine what might be causing it, the only thing I can think MIGHT be involved is that I use Mozilla Firefox instead of Internet Explorer. Tell ya what. Let me get out of the Firefox browser and access the site using Explorer and see if that makes a difference. I'll report back in a sec.
Well, I'm typing this using Internet Explorer instead of Firefox and the GPS and Ford are still missing in my text. Oh well,,,,, if that's the worst that happens to me today, it will be a GREAT DAY! :-)
No big deal. Interesting issue though.... Let me know if you or anyone else figures the problem/issue out. Meanwhile, I'll just keep on keepin' on!
Oh man! I just now reread the thread and realized that GPS is even missing in my explanation message at 11:02pm. Or at least it's missing on my end. I also just realized that if the GPS and Ford are NOT missing as you read it,,,,, I must be coming across as a complete flake!!!
Maybe we should take this offline Dan? Shoot me an email if you want to pursue it. I'll understand COMPLETELY if you don't want to! It must seem pretty bazarr from your side of the screen! Ha!

May have it figured out. We accessed the site from my wife's computer and low and behold, the missing words are there. They all have one thing in common. They have been turned into links and the text has been appropriately bolded. We're guessing the problem must have something to do with one of my security/filtering settings that is not letting them through on my system. I'll go off on my own and play with my various settings to see if I can find the culprit.
Dan, thank you for your patience! I'm so sorry this thread turned into a tech support quagmire instead of the simple and clean intro vehicle it was intended to be. I won't make anymore entries here until I can figure it out. I'll then return with a short and simple explanation regarding what I discovered in case any other members have/do run into the same issue.
Okay, as promised, this will be my last entry to this thread. I have tried adjusting firewall settings, both on my system and on our router. Nothing I do seems to help. Yes Matt, I have Norton and my wife suggests that is the problem. She quit using it a long time ago and is now using a free anti-virus package that she likes. I'm going to do a backup, reinstall without norton and use her free package. Hopefully that will solve the problem. Regardless, I've filled too much of this thread with this so ENOUGH already! Ha! On to bigger and better things!
Okay, I mean it this time. This is my LAST entry here! :-) I just wanted to clear the air about the solution. I did a full backup, reformatted my disk, reinstalled XP and did NOT install ANY Norton product. I downloaded the AGV free anti-virus package y wife likes and it is working fine. Now, the problem is gone. I can see all words, all characters!
Thank you Matt for pointing me in the right direction!
