Anyone know of a replacement for the OEM instrument panel whereby I can use the existing panel spaces but at the same time upgrade to better gauges? Some of the gauge pods I've seen are nice, but I'd personally prefer to use the existing panel space as much as possible. Forgive my ignorance if this is a stupid quuestion.
I'll chime in from what I have read from others on this forum. I hope others will verify my answer. No, I have not seen anything like you are talking about. Its not the OEM Instrument panel itself that is the problem it is the signal that the PCM sends to the instruments that makes them inaccurate. You would have to somehow disconnect the PCM signal to the stock guages, somehow gut the instrument panel guages and replace them with aftermarket guages that would fit in behind the OEM panel and match up with the faceplate. Of course anything is possible, but I'm not sure this would be practicle. Someone chime in if I am wrong.
That was sort of what i was suspecting. I hadn't thought about the PCM comms to the gauges before I threw out the post. I think I'll go ahead and forget about this aprticular dream.
I'm with you, I would rather not be redundant with guages, and I don't like to waste space. But I think I'm gonna have to go with a guage stack soon. Wish Santa would bring me some.
I changed the dash face out for a white, I like it better, but it doesn't help with the accuracy, I don't really see anyway other than "T"ing each sensor connection and making a full on custom gauge panel.
