Tilt Column

Are the 78-79 tilt columns rebuildable? I have heard yes and no. I tried a search on here but came up that it was not working. Thanks in advance for your help.

Yes, they are rebuildable. Although it is getting harder to find all of the replacement parts. Most parts are available through the sponsors of this site to your left on this page. I usually get bearings and other misc. parts from Jeffs Bronco Graveyard and have collected a few used columns that I use parts from too. -Ed

Rebuildable to an extent. If the tilt mechanism pulls down by itself I don't believe that is rebuildable.

I'm not sure what your meaning is (If the tilt mechanism pulls down by itself), there is a spring that hold's the latch into the teeth of the mechanism, if that spring becomes weak or broken it can be replaced with a used one. Maybe even a new one, I just have not found a supplier for a new spring yet. Same goes for the "rack and pinion" style mechanism used in these columns. A good supply of used parts is why I collect old tilt columns. -Ed
