Timing Light
How would one go about hooking up a standard 12V timing light to a 6V Positive Ground '49 F-1. Is this even possible? I have been told it will work, but don't wanna ruin my timing light "hacking" the correct connections.

I have done it and it works, but the light is weak. I got better results from using a 12v battery (in my gmc van) to power the timing light, and just hooked up the other wire as usual to #1 spark plug.
It worked fine that way.

If they do I bet they are hard to find and pricey. Sounds like a swap meet item to me! I wonder if the bulb could be replaced with a suitable 6V unit, or if other electronics would need replacing. Like I said, I used a 12v light on my 6v truck, and it worked, but the light was faint. Its actually just easier to have a 12v batt handy and do it that way.

I found a current add for a 6/12 volt timing light using a bright xenon bulb and single wire hook up with a clamp on connector. Operates on 2 D batteries for $49.95, 1 year warranty. You can get one from Hot Rod and Custom Supply 941-574-7744.
