Napa sells them I guess there rebuilt I need one too but I haven't had any close calls yet and I found them at a good price on the web www.blueridgediesel.com Dealership quoted me 278.00 for what I take is a new one, going to try the one from Napa when I get around to it.
mine went about a year ago. i have a napa one now, its been fine so far. when mine went all the bearing jammed and that caused the the serpentine belt to squeal and deteriorate so i had to get a new belt as well. just make sure you have some kind of puller, i cant remember what needs to come off the old one but its apparent when you get around to it.
I'll have to look at my receipts, but I changed a vacuum pump last spring and I thought it was only around $100 from dealer. I could be wrong, but I'll check tomorrow.
It was an easy job. A small puller makes taking the pulley off very easy, but you could probably also clamp the pulley in a wooden vise and drive the shaft out. It is only pressed on and there are no setscrews or woodruff keys.
Be sure and push the pulley back on to the same depth on the shaft of the new pump to ensure alignment of the serpentine belt.
Actually, you need a power steering pump pulley puller which also includes a press to reinstall the pulley. Otherwise you will almost certainly bend the sucker, as it is only made of thin metal. The pullers are sold at auto parts stores and aren't very expensive, so get the correct tool for the job.
i suggest using a power steering pulley set to remove and replace the pump pulley as any beating the pulley onto the new pump can causr damage to the bearings in the new pump shortening its life forsure... and also make sure when you re-assembly the pulley to the pump make sure you have the bolts in the holes on the assembly as u wont get 2 of them in there after the pulley is on the pump.
