Delta Sonic and Turtle Wax have done me pretty well in the past.
Are you worried about price?? If not check a few body shops in the area(Your Body's Mine is great but may be out of your location circle) They charge a bit more than detail shops though.
As far as the chicken thing goes..... I was like that too, Try the foam pads on the buffer. It's ALMOST impossible to burn through the paint, leaves a clean finish, and if you hit it with a glazing compound prior to waxing you should'nt see any swirls.
EDIT: You could call NeatStreet Autobody I think it's in Aurora. He has the resourses and/or contact info that you'd be happy with too.

Orbital
You're right to be concerned about the buffer. It's the fastest way to burn through paint and make a grown man cry.
You should use a random orbital. I just bought a Porter Cable Orbital from http://adamspolishes.com/ . He sells premium detail products and has online videos showing each phase of the detail process and why.
If you want to enter shows or just have a beautiful ride, this site is for you. The orbital makes waxing and polishing easy in about a quarter of the time.

Hey Nico, is there a particular reason you would like to have your truck buffed out?
I don't know the condition of your truck, but unless it is in really bad shape, I would refrain from buffing a Black truck.
I have a Black SD that had a few blemishes and went to the dealers body shop and they buffed the entire truck and now it looks like a$$.
I have since done some researching on this subject and what I keep hearing unless you REALLY know what your'e doing keep a buffer away from black.
I peasonally use a product called "Race Glaze" its a 3M product its a polish that will clean the paint as well a seal it. I prefer to apply and remove with micro-fiber towels.
