Having Nightmares!

There I was two days ago on Sunday driving down the road "minding my own G** *****d binness" when smoke started pouring out from under the dash! Turned around and went home after I turned off the left turn signal and the smoke stopped. Got home and pulled the steering wheel yet again. Took the turn signal switch out and then noticed that there would be no way I could put the steering wheel back on as the puller had split the threaded end of the shaft! Worked on removing the one burnt wire on the switch, wondering all the time why the fuse added into the basically stock harness didn't blow first. I'm not sure that circuit is even fused. It sure got hot. And noticed that the new switch that I bought only a couple of months ago had two wires that had cracked strands right where they were crimped to the switch. That may be the cause of the extra heat. Now I have to fix the steering gear and the turn signal switch.

Where was that catalog with the Ididit steering columns, IFS packages and new wire harness deals???

Some days it just doesn't pay to get out of bed...

And the story will continue. :-X11
