The driver's door power window on my '00 F250 is running very slow over bottom 4" or so of travel. Is there something I need to lubricate to restore operation before the motor tears up the gears? If I need to lubricate something what kind of grease do I use? Thanks!
Sounds like the track may be out of adjustment. I had the same problem with my right side window. Take off the panel and loosen the rear track if the window then moves up and down without restriction that will be the problem.
Your window regulator is probably going bad, and they're not repairable. You could also try what ssjrsw said, or spray some silicone spray in the front and rear tracks and run your window up and down, to be sure that you get the lube all the way down the track.
I just took my 06 sd in for a slow passenger window the cause was the felt on the trim piece was destroyed and the tech ordered new ones he says that if the felt wears out that the window motor will be the next to go..so could be as easy as the trim, I will let you know if this works for mine..

Thanks guys. I'll pull the door panel this weekend and see if I can tell what's going on. It's real slow for the bottom 4" going down, but goes up just fine.
I;m crious to how these problems get resolved. My '01 driver side window is slow too. At times the window stops about 3-4 inches before it's totally down. It will go down if I hit the switch again or hold it down the whole time. I'd go mess with it now but It's too cold out. Maybe in a few days.

If your window is slow from top to bottom there may be a problem with the motor. If your problem is the last few inches being slow there is a good chance that the track is out of alignment.
Take the door panel off, just two screws, one under the window controls and one behind the fake light. After removing these lift off the panel. Look for the bolt that holds the rear track in place (the lower one). Loosen this bolt and try the window again.
If it goes up and down with ease you just need to spend some time readjusting the track so the window moves with ease. If after loosing the track the window still will not move up and down fast the problem may be something more serious like the motor.
Most likely it will be just the track as many of us have had the same problem.
When I had this problem, I went through all of the steps everyone else mentioned. Nothing seemed to work. One time, I happened to grab onto the window motor and that thing was HOT. I replaced the motor and no more problem. It's been 2+ years.
Just to reiterate, this problem of the last 3-4 inches of travel is a known issue with the SD's for the past 5 years. WD40 in the tracks cures it.
YMMV.
I do not doubt that this may work, I am just to help by passing on info from my experience. I had to readjust my track since just lubricating it did not work. Worst case, by removing the panel is that you can grease the track from the inside. That will be a more longer term solution than a spray like WD-40.

The only reason I put that out there is that for the past 5 years, since I've been on this site, it's a "known issue" that the windows get slow on the last few inches of travel.
I don't doubt that you fixed your particular problem that way, I'm just saying that possibly hundreds of people have done the WD40 trick based on info from this site.
No offense taken, like I said I was just going by my truck. I have seen your posts here and know you have a great deal of knowledge with these trucks.
I always take everything a step further. When my window was going slow I automatically took off the panel to see what the problem was. I am one of those guys who is not happy with fixing something, I have to know why it did not work and what caused the problem in the first place.

Krewat is correct. WD-40 the easiest, sure-fire way to fix this very common problem. From my own experience, adjusting the track did nothing to improve window operation. I then sprayed silicone spray into the track and had immediate improvement.
