kenny i have a "60" f250 4x4. the original gages ( fuel, spedo, temp ) are gray type of silver. I am a new user. i don`t have much info on this old horse tho i have owned it for about 35yrs. grumpaw
Thank you for all the replies!
Wow, so far only one other guy with copper faced gauges? Hmmm, there doesn't seem to be a real pattern here. I remember seeing tons of '59 custom cabs that had the copper faced gauges when these trucks still weren't that old. This is wierd.
Charles,
Saturday I stopped to look at some spent oil rig trucks, ranging from 53 on up. There was a 59 with the tach mounted on the left side. It only went up to like 3000 rpms. or so, and about the same diameter as the speedometer. The cluster is obviously designed for this. The interesting thing is that this same tach was in some of the other trucks, earlier and later.
After seeing this is would be awful tempting to mount an aftermarket tach in the factory location.
Adios,
Brett
Hi Charles,
Finally got around to snapping a picture. It may be hard to see, but the speedometer is tarnished copper, and on the other gauges the plating came off when I tried to polish. Sorry it took me so long.
You are right on target. I was thinking of replacing the tach if it was broke or too low RPM. Did they also have the vacuum gauge. Now I just need to find one.
Kenny,
Did they all have a 3000 RPM limit. Picture looks good.
Charles,
None of these trucks had vacuum gauges. The same 3000 rpm tach was in a range of years. These were severely used hulks, so it is hard to say what was original in them.
Adios,
Brett
I am the second owner of my 60 with custom cab. The gauges are grey
and the speedo is grey with silver center. They are definitely the
original gauges. I have owned the truck since 1970.
BTW old Econoline (circa 61) has same instrument cluster as the 60 in case anyone is interested.

Hi Charles,
The bigger trucks had the tach and vacuum gauges. Also, the tilt cab had the same instruments and bezel as the F-series. I see them on e-bay from time to time. I hope this helps.
Everyone,
So far from all the data here, there seems to be no ryme or reason so far as to which year/model had the copper faced gauges. I really do appreciate all the replies. You guys are the best! Thanks.
