I think I'm in order for a new t-stat as well. Its been in the upper teens to 30's here and my water temp will not get above 150. ...And the EBPV never seems to want to kick off....

Is that a redneck fashion statement?

I guess I'm not the only one with a truck that warms up quickly. I was encouraged to take a look into the 203 thermostat because mine is so reluctant to open, runs like a racecar when she's hot.

No you don't, please tell me you don't. That's funny. At least I use a cool looking green and white striped towel over the grill to speed up the warm up.
Dont ask how he fixed his serp belt with Duct Tape.

Thanks for all the replys you guys. I've been thinking it may be a stuck open t-stat also.....because I don't recall it taking so long to warm up last year or the year before.
Have been reluctant to change it out due to fear of t-stat housing leaking on me the way it kept leaking when I replaced the waterpump.
I may go ahead and change the t-stat as it is the original at 106,000 miles.

THANKS GUYS

Hey..... It was the T-stat..... Remembered that I still had an aftermarket T-stat in the tool box. The one I didn't use last year when I was changing out the waterpump.
Found it and installed it. The original T-stat (OEM) had a rubber seal that had come out of place and was on the top side of the t-stat and would not let it seal closed (not the housing gasket).
Anyway......Started the truck up and she heated up in about five or ten minutes (no driving) Back to normal.
will still have to redo it. Had to use the old housing and gasket and noticed a very small seepage. Will pick one up tomorrow on lunch hour.

Make sure it is a long stem thermostat. The regular short stem thermostats that most parts stores sell will not close the bypass disk in the waterpump housing and can cause the rear of the block to overheat without ant warning. I have seen a guy have to by a new motor because he used a NAPA short stem version thermostat with only 55K on the odometer.
