Cause when it starts breaking stuff up in the tank cleaning it some of the pieces will be large and stick in the filter. Never a bad thing to change it, and its pretty cheap.
I think my tank was clean just want to clean the jets they say it is hard to get the filter off it is a 99 F150 5.4 4x4 off road just did not want it to colg the filter
With the amount of detergents in gasoline these days that to add a cleaner to the gas would cause more harm than than good, why risk it?
On the same thinking why break up many miles of sludge buildup in a motor with Seafoam additive to grind up everything that moves or rotates in the lubrication system? Again asking for trouble. My thoughts as I have seen what it does to Rover motors afterwards as it seems many Rover owners believe Seafoam is needed in their motors. Maybe it's good product to loosen up a varnished lawnmower carburators?
