Turbo Timer
Had turbo diesels for many years now, this is the first with a turbo timer on it!
When I turn the key off and get out, theres a aftermarket turbo timer with green led's that shows various lengths of time and keeps the truck running for that period of time before shutting the engine off!
I have no idea how it knows how long to idle down the engine - it seems to make up it's own mind and do it for varying lengths of time depending on how far / fast I've been driving!! (How hot the enegine is?)
I notice that when I turn off the key, but the engines still running on turbo timer, the power windows cease to work, as do the power door locks (central locking)...
You basically have to stand there, like a stale bottle of beer in the sun, or a sunstruck seagull, waiting for however long it takes, for the engine to idle down and shut off, before you can lock the car doors and walk away!
Is this normal?
I also notice...after it shuts down - if I walk past the exhaust, I can hear the turbo fan spinning down and blowing air out the exhaust... I presume this is a good sign?
Does everything sound "normal"?
Thanks in advance!
Cheers!
I wouldn't get frustrated with yours and just take it out. Just make sure it is wired correctly. Refer to the manufacturer for assembly instr. It is an excellent device to have in your truck.
