Mike: What is the reason for leaving it plugged in for days at a time without use? Last year I plugged in the block heater for my car every time I parked it at home. My bill went up about $50 a month. IMHO not worth it. So, this year I bought a timer that I plug it into.
I programmed it to come on about 2 hours before I leave for work during the week and on Saturdays and Sundays it comes on around 5am until 10am. Also has a remote so I can turn on the timer from the house (off as well).
It only cost me about $30 and think it is a worthwhile investment.
Matt, thats a good idea. Where did you get that timer from?
I'll probably leave it plugged in at all times (with a timer, if I get one) because I won't know(typically) until I wake up in the morning if I'm going to drive it that day or my car
My electric bill is high enough already, I guess I don't need to add too much to it.
You can buy them anywhere. I bought mine from Canadian Tire but I assume you don't have them in the US of EH! They should have them at Home Depot.
The remote works good because if it is the middle of the day and the timer is not set to turn it on I can turn it on a few hours before I have to leave from the comfort of my couch.
