Truck runs like a top. Lots of power. I just love the expressions on drivers faces when I hit the pedal when entering hwy at a ramp. This thing flies.
If I did not lease this would be a truck I could keep for quite some time.
I idle very little. My average speed with hr. Meter is approx 48.3 mph since new.
It was interesting to see Beach's putting 6.9 on his post. It brought back very painful memories of the worst truck I ever owner 86 Ford F250 Heavy Duty 6.9 (in the shop every week truck). LOL
OK I'll Add to this thread. My May 04 F250 has 58,000 and no problems other then recalls, And my moders disease hasn't hurt the truck either. I never want to to have a gaser again. I'am very happy with it and hope it's the last one i'll buy, 20 or 30 more years,or would that be asking to much.
I just got my '03 F-350 SC SB 6.0 FX4 a month ago to replace the '87 F-150 2X4. The old one still ran but wasn't safe for daily use without putting work into it to fix intermittant electrical problems, and after 20 years I figure I got my $8600 worth from it.
I love this new truck. It has the diesel and also 4X4, first time for me on both of those. I get 17-18 MPG which is about 30% more than what I was getting with the F-150(300cid straight six and 4-speed OD manual tranny). This from a truck that weighs more empty than the GVWR of the old one. I have the Oasis Report for it, only thing on there is fuel pump/filter replacement so it seems there were no major issues before I bought it. I fully well expect to have this truck for 20+ years, have always had good luck with Ford products. Below is a list of the Fords I've had with no major problems. True, I had to have the timing belt on the Escort replaced and the in tank fuel pump went out on me, but with that kind of milage you espect to have some repairs sooner or later...
New '87 F-150 170K, still running when it went
Used '93 Escort 200K, still running when it went
Used '95 Crown Vic 173K and counting
New '05 Freestyle 25K and counting(wife's car)
Used '03 F-350 62K and counting
I probably have one of the higher mileage 05 250's at 73K (bought new in Apr. 05). I read this forum religously and have learned a ton about my first diesel. I tend to know a good bit more than the service techs when I go in for maintenance. I've used only Ford dealers for regular maintenance. Oil changes at 5 or 6K (one Blackstone report - very clean and suggested I go to 6500 miles before changes), fuel filters every 15K, air filter every 20K, two transmission fluid changes - 30K & 60K. I use grey DK about every other tank.
Here are the major problems I have had: the paint on the F250 decals has peeled off and I've had them replaced twice. My clear coat on the blue oval on the front is peeling.
That's it - very MAJOR problems!!!
I get about 19 pure highway and 14 pure in-town; 12 towing (which is a bit of a disappointment I guess). The only thing I have "mod-ed" is that I didn't like the ride of the stock Ranchos and have replaced with Rancho 9000's set to the soft setting. Seems like a better ride, especially off-road. The stock shocks seemed to get very stiff and hard once I got past the 50K mile mark.
I hope to go 200 to 250K before trading for the new 6.4L. However, what I would really like is if Ford would do an F150 with a diesel.

Don't mean to highjack, but there is a version of the V-8 6.0L that is in V-6 form in the cabover box trucks that Ford has. I think they are LCF or something to that effect. If they don't completely change that engine along with the 6.4, and providing they can satisfy the EPA, that same engine will probably be shoehorned in a F-150 engine bay. Not sure on when this will take place, but if they would do it they would sell like hot cakes, but why sell a smaller version of a superduty when they sell like hot cakes now, and they get around $40-45000 a pop! (dressed up of course)
I would just like to say, with the exption of one person this thread has been kicking butt. Its nice to read this and hear about all the people who have had such a great experience with there ford trucks.... Thanks to everyone for keeping this thread on mark... we all know there are generally little things that happen.. but thats to be expected with anything that moves... keep kicking butt and posting the positives.. thanks everyone.... 06 psd,cc,4x4.My first diesel..Man I love this truck.Lots of room and the ride is tiwce what I thought it would be.Truck is a month old with 453 miles on it.Yea I don't get out much..But I plan on buying a 30ft pull behind camper and start getting to the place's I have been missing the last couple of years..I am also fighting the mod bug..Thinking about the turbo back exhaust for the first mod..Nice thread..
05 as per sig, approaching 40,000 Km, since April 05, bought new. We pulled close to 8000 k with our new trailer this summer, we have not had any problems. Its sure fun pullin hills in the show off lane passing DOODGES and DURACRAPPERS :-) Longest trip we grossed at 18000 lbs when we left. Still got 11 - 12 mpg in the hills using cruise some times. In BC Canada, we have big hills, 10s of miles at 7 - 8 % grade is common. We love this truck, its name is LARRY! Yes JoryLee he has ***** two.

I talked with a Ford mfg. rep at the Texas State Fair auto show and he said that there has been a good bit of talk about a F150 diesel. You're right though, it probably would take some of the SuperDuty sales. I just don't need the 20,000 pounds of pulling power of the SuperDuty but I love the diesel and would like it in a little smoother ride package. I need 5000 lbs of pulling power, which I can get with a half ton, but I don't like the gas engine and crappy gas mileage. I would think a smaller, V6 diesel would really get great fuel mileage, plus have the benefit of a long running engine life at low pollution levels.
Sorry to get off topic - maybe we should start a new thread and see what interest there would be in a F150 diesel.
If I loved my truck anymore I'd be sporting a woody the whole time I was behind the wheel (sorry). My biggest issue is getting the wife and kids out of it and explain that it is not a grocery-getter. Any ride we take means it is fully warmed up. It pulls like a dream and the TowCommand means that I have no worries going up in mountains or coming down. I have said over and over that it provides piece of mind knowing we are safe and in command of a beast of a truck. Having a good dealer that stands behind their product goes a long, long way also. There is no other truck for me.

It's my daily driver about 120mi/day. I pull ~8k probably 1/2 times a month in the summer (car to track). I changed my own oil at 5k with Delvac. No additives, going to 5% Bio soon.
