If your going to do a remote start, I would recommend you consider one with an alarm system that allows you to keep the vehicle locked. If someone managed to get into my vehicle while I have the remote start on, they must step on the brake in order to put the vehicle in gear. That immediately kills the engine and will not start again unless you press the appropriate buttons on the remote - and have the key!
A remote start without a security system guarantees someone else will be driving your truck for you - and without you.

DEI is that same company that makes Viper alarms, which i highly recommend, They are the only alarm that i will use. They have kits for the remote start. If your truck is a manual trans, they wont install a remote start for you, it has to my an auto with fuel injection.

I just had the DEI Python installed in my 2000 this summer, great so far. Only problem I had was that since I didn't have a remote key lock for my doors when the remote start was installed the actuators that hadn't ever really been used much before failed. I just have to remember to lock the doors when I get out and it still arms/unarms fine, just have to use the key after I unarm the system. Eventually I will get around to replacing the actuators.

you will see on page 7 item number 28 (part number 19A361). I have always wanted to know how far back this kit would work? It has been in the catalog for 3-4 years. I asked at a dealer and they had no clue. Does anyone know??
