i have a 78' f-150 4x4 and wanted to put some KC lights on her. i've looked everywhere to find a push bar or bumper guard for the front of my truck so i can attach the lights to. i cant find a bolt on one for it. do they even sell one for that year? i know some guys make their own or whatever but im not much of a welder or fabricator. i'd rather just buy one for it. can i just drill a couple holes in my bumper and attach the lights or will they look butchered? i was thinking about a roll bar too...anyways your advice would help alot. thanks guys ----Ryan
If it's not a show truck or something..which i'm guessing it isn't. You could drill holes and put it in the bumper. If it's a good bumper, I wouldn't though. If the bumper has some rust on it and/or bent up..then I say go for it. It doesn't look bad, in my opinion.
Someone did at some point because I have a 78 Bronco that I bought used with a bull bar and fog lights. It bolts on using the bumper bolts and fits over the front bumper. I don't have any idea who manufactured it.
Check out my gallery. I got one from http://rockymountainsusp.com/index.h...umber=86019+QS chrome or black. I know that I looked and asked around for a long time before I found somewhere to get one, so your in luck. I have 4 KC's on mine, can barbeque a squirrel at 100yds, hehe.
This is a pic of the stock "bull bar" that was produced for these trucks by the factory: https://www.ford-trucks.com/user_gal...p?albumid=9872 This bar bolts to the stock bumper with the existing bumper bolts. I have seen these on e-bay from time to time. -Ed
I have one of those factory-style bull bars on my brother's '73. We pulled it off a 4x4 in a salvage yard a couple years ago. Didn't know it was factory though, I've seen the same style on Dodges and Chevys.
hey unrulee, i went to that link you so kindly gave us, but from there i could not find one that would match up to a 1979 ford. Any help finding one would be nice! Thankx
everyone is forgetting jc whitney- i know they used to have one when they had a big catalog but with their new one being so small i don't know if they offer one for that year
