I've recently located an almost mint set of bumper guards at a local parts yard. Even though I can purchase them at a really great price, I'm still a little bit hesitant to go ahead and buy them. Especially since they've already been removed from the truck & the people at the yard don't exactly know which truck they were originally on anymore.
I am aware of the fact that there was some type of a bumper design change made on the 78-79 F-series trucks. From the limited amount of info I've found so far. Apparantly there's a good chance that this bumper design change also makes the bumper guards year specific to 73-77 or 78-79.
So, what I need to know is, if indeed these bumper guards were removed from a 78 or 79 truck. Will I still be able to use them on my 75 SuperCab? If not, is there any easy way for me to identify which year truck they were removed from?
Many thanks in advance for any info that anyone can provide about this situation.
The bumper guards should fit. I made "pads" from 2" reinforced nylon tubing filled w/ blue fiberglas. They worked fine and looked nice for 6 months or so till the nylon turned yellow from weather. Thet still work good. I have a set of 'guards from a '79 Pinto mounted about 4" inside them for a double set of guards. Not as much chance on denting somebodys rear bumper when they get a push start.
